Long Weekend

What are you doing?

We are expecting rainy weather and high winds this weekend so my hubby and I woke up early today and headed out to the lake to Kayak and get some boat time before the weather hit. It was a very fun paddle with rough water but we were loving the wild paddle then he surprised me by taking the long way home through a little town near us Boulder City. In Boulder City we had lunch at my favorite place Milo's then he said "Why don't we antique for a bit since the weather is still nice." So we enjoyed an outdoor lunch and shopping in low 80's with a light breeze and heavy cloud cover, for a desert rat this was a huge weather treat. Not to mention it was very quite which is unusual for a weekend. **Side note he did claim every guy walking by us at lunch was giving him the good man nod as we ate our prissy salad and sandwiches, and he gave the head nod saying poor guy enjoy antiquing.

For the rest of the weekend we plan on RELAXING at home and working on stuff we both brought home (such is the life of a teacher after the first week.)

Back to school- Quick update

I am back to school. This will be an interesting year with a very varied group of kids, some will be an amazing challenge that i am up to.

I am also deeply entrenched in listening to Twilight, I so do not want to go to work I want to listen to my book. I guess dragging it out will make it last longer.

Paddeling Fun

We were able to hit the river and paddle enjoying that there are no motors allowed on Sundays or Mondays. The quite river makes the wildlife come out and say hi. I was less then 30 feet from these guys. Check out their amazing horns.Unfortunately I could not capture the bald eagles drifting along the cliffs on my paddle camera.
While I was watching the big horns I noticed that this stick was moving. Oops that is not a stick. I was glad to be floating with a little safety ner between him and me.

I love how close our boats let us get to nature.

The person they were talking about was Bret Farve I am happy to report that in my circle more then 1/5 people know who he is. This was discussed on ESPN’s Mike and Mike in the morning. Where one Mike said he did not think anyone outside of football know who Bret Farve was.

Day 10

Nothing new happening on the remodeling front we are waiting for replacement pieces before we can continue.

Day 6 and 7

Yesterday the cabinets arrived and were installed. Today we placed calls and griped about those things that were just not right. Hey we are only doing this once it should be perfect. here a few picture teasers. Sorry no big shots of my beautiful kitchen till it is all done which may be over a month since a few things need to reordered .

Ona good note the cabinet company and Lowe's were out first thing this morning and everything is being reordered and it was fairly painless, so far. There are other parts I would love to show off but I am waiting for the big before and after revel post.

Day 5

Greetings from the edge! Yesterday I was a taping diva in the kitchen tent. Every time the a/c turned on it was like a bounce house .

Night of Day 3 and Day 4

If you asked me right now I would say love your house as it is it is not worth it I am sure that opinion will change in a few weeks. But yesterday we tried to do some basic electrical and because the person before us had done such a poor job we ran into major problems. We also found out that steam from a shower mixed with paint fumes can set off a fire alarm at 2 am. You should have seen me outside trying to turn off the circuit in no shoes and a night shirt. I was sure the house was on fire it took a few minutes for me to realize that hubby was taking a shower and I had just shut the lights out on him. Today we broke down and paid a pro.

More painting to day also we have walled in the Kitchen with plastic every time the A/C comes on it looks like a bounce house.

Day 2-3

The remodeling continues. Yesterday we finished demo on the cabinets, it was very gratifying to destroy those nasty hated cabinets. Max did not agree but he was a trouper though a terrible headache and a very eager wife with a sledge hammer.

Today (Sunday) I became the Spackle queen repairing some massive holes in the ceiling from the florescent lights that nearly fell out of the ceiling. Max enjoyed the pleasure of painting with a sprayer so easy. We also struggled with installing lights and ended calling an electrician. This was a very long day and lasted late into the night.

More to come as we continue!

Let the remodel begin!

I am so happy my yucky kitchen is about to go!!!

Some of my favorite parts of this kitchen are the drawers with holes in the bottom.

The classy saw cut, pulling away from the ceiling. You can tell these cabinets were hand made with love (not skill!)

The wonderful pressed board non adjustable shelves. That give you splinters when getting things out. Oh did I mention the spacing is so short I can't put a box of cereal on the shelves.
Ethel loved checking out the PIT! This is where we stored everything along with all of the goodies that fell through the drawers above. I was amazed at the crap that was in there and left wondering about the hundreds of rubberbands I found in the pit.

After I emptied the lovely plastic lazy Susan I pulled up to find all of my lost lids underneath but...
was this where are my lids!!!! I was left wondering about the thread and fabric scraps, I know I did not put those items in my kitchen.

Tonight I boxed up several cabinets in preparation for demo and painting this weekend! I will try to post pictures as the process to continue. Have I mentioned how excited I am to take the boxes of cabinets in the garage and see them in my kitchen. LET THE PROCESS BEGIN!!!!
