The Birds, Bees, and Beags

Today we headed up to the Mount Charleston Lodge for lunch on their doggie deck, so Lucy was able to join us on the adventure. We saw many birds, bees and of course the Beags aka Lucy the Beagle.

The Birds

There were humming birds all over. I was so glad I brought my zoom lens to catch these fast fliers. We also say another kind of bird but I don't know what it was.

Anyone know what these cute yellow birds are? they are smaller than a dove bigger than a parakeet.

The Bees

Not as cute as the birds or the Beag but still everywhere. They even interrupted lunch a bit. I do love some of these pictures though thanks to the zoom lens I may have a crop a few of these in really tight, but for today I am getting out of the camera and onto the blog.

The Beag

Lucy loved the truck ride in my lap as man drove. She also had a great time walking and sniffing all the new smells.

After a little editing this may be my new favorite picture.

Chilling out on the couch under my comfy quilt made by a friend as a wedding gift, reading a book on my Christmas gift (love you hubby,) with my warm Lucy curled up between my legs, while listening to a concert. I don't think life gets much better!

Track Break

The week of President's Day I had 3 days off for a mini track break. Max took two of those days off with me. On Tuesday our little family headed to Valley of Fire, it was the first time is 4 visits that we had sunshine. We had a blast hiking and playing in the red sand!

I love my Lucy Girl! Like my new hat my hat disappeared and I had to buy a new one in the gift shop.

We brought coffee and tea to go for a yummy snack while hiking YUMMMM.

On the way home we were looking for some interesting things that were under Lake Mead and due to water levels are exposed. We did not find what we were looking for but we did find a little grouping of houses we did not know existed and maybe a new area to kayak.

On Thursday I was able to take Sydney up to Mt Charleston for an adventure. We took my friend Kelly and her son Ryan (a few months older than Sydney) along. We had a great time building snowmen and sledding. Kelly and I each went to the top of the big hill and went on a scary ride then we did safe sledding with the kids. The kids did their best to share the sled, well in the way 2 year olds share. After sledding we went to the Ski lodge and had Chili and hotdogs and ate our lunch outside since it was so warm. Overall a great way to end the week and recharge myself!

Another Blog from Lucy

Hi It’s Lucy again! I guess I am taking over my mommies blog since she has not been posting lately, well maybe that is my fault she has been spending all of her time spoiling ME!!!!! Here are some of our latest adventures.

On the way to some of our adventures I get to wear hats, how cute am I! I am still trying to convice Lu that I need goggles! Max Thinks I need a Steelers baseball hat.
For years my humans get in the truck and go places without me lately they have let me come along. We have had time shopping at the District. My favorite store is Flea Bags Bakery they have the best doggie muffins. My humans have been eating at Pannera Bread so they can eat outside with me. I like it to when they bring the people food outside the runner always offers me a bowl of water. I told you this place is great! Then we go walking it is fun looking in all of the shop windows and meeting all of the other dogs walking their humans. They even have special places for me to do my duty.



I have also been working on my kayaking skills I am becoming a better passenger and can now balance with my paws up on the bow. It is great when Lu paddles fast or the wind blows at us I can get both of my ears flying in the wind. Saturday I tried to keep it up and as the boat turned I moved my paws for a better angle I almost walked right into the river oops. Thank goodness for my handle and Lu’s fast reactions!

Last week we were headed back to shore when Max noticed this big things drinking from the river. The humans called them Big Horn Sheep you really have to look for them they blend right into the mountains. I was really good and watched them I did not even bark, Max told me that would scare them. Then I jumped into Max’s boat (I told you I am getting better at this) so Lu could take pictures.

I am so lucky to have humans that take me out on these adventures. But I must admit that I was glad they went back to work after the long weekend all this activity is making me a VERY TIRED PUPPY!

River Dog

A Post by Lucy the Wonder Beagle

Yesterday my humans loaded up their boats and put on their paddle clothes. I gave them my pitiful look and went to lay on the couch alone for the day.

Suddenly I heard a sound wait why does my walking buddy have the leash?

Oooooh oooh oooh I am going on a truck ride.

Then they took me to this big store (the boat store) and put this thing on me I looked like a lady bug we bought it and they told me I had my own PFD (puppy flotation device) I don't know what that means but I hopped back into the truck.

We went on a really long trick ride I was tired beagle surfing that far (riding on the arm rest.) We went over this big dam but they did not let me pee on it.

Finally I got out of the truck but I was to excited to pee there was this big water thing I went to check it out but first they put my lady bug vest on me. WHOA THAT IS COLD ARE YOU PEOPLE CRAZY???? With lots of coaxing they got me in the cold water and I did feel a little cooler, it was weird I floated.

Lu tried to get me into this big yellow and orange thing, with a little help I got in.

Next thing I knew we were moving! Look Now I am really a beagle surfer!


Every time I got splashed I tried to back into Lu she was muttering something about needing to paddle between the laughter while Max kept asking if I was okay "I was great the wind in my ears and so many new things to sniff!"

We paddled up a little way and they let me out to check things out. So many things to sniff I tried to climb a rock wall but Max saw a tail and freaked out something about a snake (it was a really a big lizard that they would not let me chase) I had so much fun in this spot I even wondered out for a swim.
After a bit they tried to get me back into the boat I stood firm on land but Max picked me up by my handle (hey who puts a handle on a dog?) We paddled into the fast windy area with waves that were splashing me it was so much fun I jumped out for a swim. Lu was laughing really hard and Max paddled really fast saying something about rescuing me. Then Lu picked me up by my handle and I climbed back into the boat, I was cold but it was fun.
On the drive home I was still really excited but kept falling asleep. When we finally got home I snuck into the bedroom and made myself a nest out of the comforter. I was too tired to jump onto the bed. Max found me sleeping in my hiding spot.

It was a great day to be a beagle stay tuned for more beagle adventures!
