Early Birthday

It is our family tradition to celebrate birthdays with a family dinner at the birthday boy/girls restaurant of choice. This year I choose to celebrate at Black Angus. Yes I know my birthday is not today it is next week! However 5/6 of us were off of work today so it made sense to gather a week early and eliminate the rush from work or people rushing off to work. Me, Sydney, Chrissy
Sydney was very into dipping her celery into the little metal cups she started with ranch but ran out and was happily dipping into the butter she found until her mommy declared "I draw the line at butter!" Syd was such a cutie as soon as she saw the pre flash of my camera she posed.
My Mom's birthday is in March but she will be celebrating at Disneyland with Chrissy's family so we gave her an early present. The bag was sealed with binder clips and she was so excited she tried to take them, Max told her she could not have them. Boy was she surprised to open a pack of big bright binder clips (oh did I fail to mention she is currently obsessed with pretty binder clips? Now I know why Office Max is one of my favorite stores!)
Since Max and I are both off this week he took me to buy my birthday gift, MY first NEW guitar! I have been learning on his old school guitar but it did not fit me well, so I am very excited to have a smaller guitar that is easier to play and suited to my emerging style.
The process actually started Monday, I got the guitar yesterday and took it in to my favorite guitar guy Ken to look it over and change the strings (he works at the other store and was unable to come meet us yesterday.)
Ken checking her out and showing off her full potential he is an awesome player and a local musician
Ken and I
A quick thank you to my wonderful sister for the Cold Stone Jelly Belly's these are delicious, everyone should try these!

Tracy and Noah

Sunday I had the pleasure to do an engagement shoot of my wonderful friend Tracy and her awesome fiance Noah. They started dating a few weeks before Max and I did. Tracy worked with me at the time and helped me realize that my now hubby was interested in being more then friends. I am so happy to watch them prepare to take the next step. We had a great time in the wind rain and children's trails!

I was playing around with some tips in Computer Tricks for Scrapbooking 3 by Jessica Sprague

So cute!
I love the tenderness between the two of them
The are beautiful but so is that really cool water spouting waterfall behind them!

They both play rugby in fact that is how they met
Love is in the air
The very first shot we probably could have stopped right there but hey we were having a blast!

Oh Day I have been longing for you.....

I have been longing and dreaming about this day for weeks. I went up to Mount Charleston with the reader loaded up with books (I am reading the story of Edgar Sawtelle,) camera ready to go (as you can see I took a few pictures!) and body ready to relax. I drove and walked around taking pictures till I was cold then went inside to warm up I digi scrapbooked on the laptop for a bit while sipping on hot coco. Then I pulled out my book and read a few pages gazed out the window for a bit read a few more pages and gazed some more there were clouds moving in and it was beautiful! After an hour or so I ordered a big bowl of yummy chili and read and gazed some more after another hour or so I had my favorite dessert creme bruelle YUM!!!! As you can see below I also read some more. It was a glorious day that recharged me for life, my batteries were getting pretty empty and needed natures recharging! I am so glad that this day turned out just as the perfect image sitting in my brain for many weeks.

Reading while eating dessert

The view out of my window seat

There was a storm the day before adding a fresh coat of beauty

So pretty

The wind must have been crazy on the mountain check out these sideways icicles

Today was a bit warmer and led to melting, wow nature is amazing! I will never admit to the amount of time taken standing in the cold entranced by the dripping or the amount of pictures taken to get this shot!

What a pretty place to live

More of natures beauty

I always thought that in the center of this picture was a cave but the snowy river inside makes me wonder if it may be an arch?

Incoming clouds hiding the rest of the mountains and sadly my cue to head home back to reality

I also took a few minutes for a few self portraits with the help of my timer and the railings of the walkways (I had a tripod in my trunk I forgot about oops) Hey where did that fire hydrant come from it was not there when I set up to frame, oh well

Red Rock

I am on a two week track break and luckily my mom is still of work due to her knee surgery so we have been able to spend some time together. Tuesday we went out to lunch and lite shopping. Thursday we headed out to Red Rock to see the snow. It was beautiful! We saw an odd thing or two and even posed around a bit. It has been wonderful to spend some low key time with just mom and I it has been to long since we have done that.

Food

I am almost embarrassed to post this. As I was catching up on my photo of the day layout and getting pictures from the camera to layout, realized almost every picture this month was about food. What does that say about me????

2. With all of the excitement of the
Superbowl our stomachs were to
unsettled to eat the chicken wings we
planned on eating, so we ate them
tonight.3. It is my favorite time of the year Pie
Month at Marie Calendars.
4. We watched “Dirty Jobs” while the
girls relaxed on the couch.
5. Max stayed home sick and cleaned
Sylvia (his espresso machine) here he is
enjoying a yummy cappuccino.
6. I went out to dinner with Chrissy, and Sydney at Mimi’s Cafe. THis was the first time she sat in a booster chair.
7. Max woke up very early and woke me
up with the smell of pancakes and
sausage from scratch, along with puppy
time.

Project 365- January

Here is my January layout as part of my challenge to take a photo of the day for 2009. I know I said this in December but it is wonderful to have preserved so many everyday memories that would never have been recorded, like my puppy putting me to sleep each night.
The photos are taken with a mix of 2 cameras Cannon XTi and Olympus Stylus 850 SW
The layout was completed with the following materials:
Paper and corners: DB Designs- Faith Sisters Mini Birthday Celebration Kit
Swirls: Lisa Habisreutinger- Devine Doodles 3
Fonts: Title- Pristina Journaling- Serifa TH BT
